Choosing the Perfect Reciprocating Saw Blade

Before we dive into blade types, let’s talk about what matters most — our WILD blades.

Developed in partnership with Bosch, these blades are our bread and butter — engineered for performance, painted in our Wild colors, and named after the Wild family. Their legacy of grit, growth, and loyalty powers our team. We're on a wild ride with a High Yield Team and crew that looks ahead through the windshield, not the rearview  mirror— and our blades are built the same way.  They lead the way and cut through anything that gets in your way.

Trusted by contractors for 25 years, our team and WILD blades are designed to take the heat, chew through heavy materials, and deliver clean cuts again and again. When in doubt — go Wild.

Selecting the right blade can drastically improve performance. We understand your deadlines and reputation are critical — so let us guide you in choosing the best blade for your task.

Common Blade Materials:

  • High Carbon Steel (HCS) – Affordable, flexible, great for wood and plastic. Best for short-term, soft material jobs. Price: $2.19–$3.99

  • High Speed Steel (HSS) – Tougher than HCS, resists heat, cuts hardwoods and non-ferrous metals.
    Price: $2.59–$4.99

  • Bi-Metal – Combines HCS and HSS. Long-lasting, all-purpose blade for pros.
    Price: $3.19–$6.99

  • Carbide Tipped – Built for thick metals. Exceptionally durable.
    Price varies

  • Carbide Grit – Ideal for tile, cement board, brick, etc. Cuts abrasive materials.
    Price: $9.19–$39.99

  • Diamond – Cuts concrete, glass, ceramic. Highest durability.
    Price varies

How to Choose the Right Blade:

✅ Use a harder blade than the material you're cutting
✅ 6" and 9" blades are most common
✅ Short blades = aggressive cuts; Long blades = flexibility
✅ Wider = more stable; Narrow = for curved cuts
✅ Standard thickness is 0.035"; Heavy duty up to 0.062"
✅ Lower TPI (teeth per inch) = faster, rougher cut; Higher TPI = smoother finish
✅ Keep 3 teeth in contact with material at all times
